  Getting Beyond Japan Studies: Inside and Outside Japan

The aggregate number of participants is thirty-seven, and the meeting became a good opportunity for the faculty at the University to recognize the importance of such an interdisciplinary network for ‘’Japan Studies.’’ We discussed the necessity to publish the Japan Studies-related works in English or other foreign languages in addition to sharing the Japan Studies-related information. In the second session, Professor William Kelly introduced an American perspective toward Japan Studies and many foreign scholars participated in his keynote speech, exchanging opinions regarding the GJS research network.
