Global Japan Studies (GJS) Network, which was launched in 2014, completed its activities by the end of March, 2022. From the beginning of April, we will start a new project called Global Asian Studies (GAS) Network to promote new types of Asian studies in this globalizing era. Under the banner of GAS Network, we will launch a new project named JF-GJS Initiatives which is an updated version of GJS Network.
JF-GJS Initiatives are collaborative activities between Japan Foundation (JF) and Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia (IASA) of the University of Tokyo, which aims to promote “fruitful dialogue between Asian studies in Japan and Japan studies in Asia.”
The name of GJS will remain to be seen in the name of inter-faculty undergraduate educational program hosted by UTokyo Center for Contemporary Japanese Studies (TCJS). We’ll keep on using this official website, however, to announce some activities hosted by JF-GJS Initiatives before official website of GAS Network opens. We hope to get your support for a variety of activities of GAS Network in IASA.
